Are you interested in choosing online business ideas that have potential to actually make you money? One of the biggest mistakes that new business owners make is deciding what product or service they’ll be offering right off the bat and then go out searching for customers – this is the wrong approach to take.
Make sure there is demand for what you’re offering
May sound pretty straight forward to you but you’d be surprised at how many people jump into businesses that actually have no consumer demand or at best very little. Just because you think it’s a great idea doesn’t mean the rest of the world will. So what you’re going to want to do is take your idea and plug it into the “Keyword Tool” developed by the good folks over at Google. Simply type your idea into this lovely little machine and the results will show you monthly search volume for your home business ideas and related terms. So if you thought you had a great idea but there’s only 50 searches a month in the whole world the chances of you making money from that idea are fairly slim – you with me? On the other hand if you plug in your idea and there are thousands of searches per month you might have found yourself a winner, but don’t start jumping up and down just yet.
How competitive is the current market?
After finding that your new idea has potential and lots of search volume you need to see what kind of competition you’ll be up against. Go over to Google’s main search page and just type in your business idea. Take a look at the organic as well as paid sponsor results (on the right side). If you find that there are already many established businesses doing an amazing job you may want to consider a better small business idea to get into. On the other hand if there is a bit of competition and you feel you could do a better job than the main websites you’re finding on this first page of the Google results, then definitely give it a try and go for it!
So remember before you get all excited about your new idea that’s going to make you a great online passive income spend some time to research the demand and competition out there. You’ll be glad you took the time at the beginning.
